Here is a neat piece of Art Nouveau iridescent glass found reasonably priced on eBay AU. This type of serving ware/kitchen items are rather rarely seen in iridescent glass.
It is made from opaline glass with a pale pinkish - orange/peach swirl decor. There is an iridescent satin finish.
This sugar castor measures 16.5 cm tall (inclusive of the silver plate lid) & 6.5 cm across the base.
As can be seen from the fourth photo, it is most likely by the same maker as another iridescent sugar castor I acquired 5 years ago. This one has a pink & yellow striped decor, which also matches two other "functional" items I have (a biscuit barrel & a small jam pot).
Silver plate lid is simply marked EPNS.
When I bought this the seller noted that the lid was stuck fast, & there was some dirt trapped inside. Fortunately I was able to unstick the lid by soaking it upside down in a cup of hot water. It loosened up & I was able to clean out the dirt & remove the corrosion from the lid.
I feel this is most likely Bohemian origin, circa early 20th century.
I wonder who it was that made these stylish tableware items?
Such a beautiful piece!! I love the colors of this one.
Many thanks, Scott!
