Some may recall a recent post of a Bohemian vase which arrived "naked" (no bubble wrap or paper) in a box. I opined that even though the seller had a lot more very interesting glass on offer, I would be nervous & somewhat reluctant to buy from them again.
Well, I decided I had to after seeing this vase on Saturday night. Despite my nerves & reservations, I took the plunge because...I mean, just look at this vase, it is stunning. I just hoped it would arrive safely. Which thankfully, it did today.
The seller heeded the advice that I provided in my feedback, & did a (marginally) better job with packing - there was actually a single layer of foam sheeting around it!
The vase is made from a single layer of translucent glass that shades from pinkish - orange at the base to pinkish - red at the top. A "spreading" type colour reminiscent of amberina (but much classier).
It measures 21.5 cm tall, 4.7 across the trefoil top rim, & 6 cm across the base.
There is an iridescent satin finish with a slight oil - spot type texture.
What really drew me to this vase, besides the lovely colour, was the form. Simple but so elegant & different. There is a twisted three - lobed shape that concludes with the trefoil top.
Well worth the worry! Maybe I'll get something else from them (or am I pushing my luck too far?)
Most likely Bohemian origin, circa 1900. I am thinking perhaps Rindskopf. It's giving me Rindskopf "vibes"...
Gorgeous iridescent vase & looks lovely nestled in the foliage
Beautiful, glad it arrived in one piece but it must have been a nervous wait :)
Many thanks, Jenni!
Thanks also, Bernard! Yes, definitely a nervous wait...I may be tempted by another item from this seller, but would not consider anything with applied handles or projecting parts - risk is too high even with slightly improved packing!
