Its always fun to find or put together a set in a period holder. These holders are typically silverplate and are very fancy. Some of the makers of these holders are Meriden, Pairpoint, Tufts, and Wilcox. These holders are getting hard to find anymore and may not recognized without shakers in them.
Two and three bottle holders are much easier to find than the four. Holders are usually built to hold either a set of a salt and pepper, a three bottle holder holds a salt, pepper, and mustard jar, and a four bottle holder would hold a salt, pepper, mustard, and a small stoppered bottle.
Some of these holders will also have a napkin ring built into the holder.
Collectors can choose to have the holders in their original finish which may be quite worn or may choose to have them replated. That is a personal preference.
Either way they are a great addition to and set of shakers!
