This pretty doll has a dress marked "Patty". I am trying to identify the year of manufacture and if Patty is the real name of the doll.
Thanks!

Hi her dress looks original to her . Does tag just say Patty or name of a company also . Look at back of her neck under hair and also on her upper back for any makers name . She appears a very good quality doll and likely from early 60's . She is Vinyl and looks like hard plastic legs . How tall is she ?
She is abou 18", back of neck says Alexander doll and a number that I think is 5005 but hard to read first number. She is in very good condition except hair is flat in back and her socks have holes. Thanks for the info.
Tag on dress says: Patty by Madame Alexander New York USA
Do you think the hat is original to her also?
Yes the hat appears original too . Does she have tag on her wrist I see a string. I am going to have to resort to my books on her . She is not a common Madame Alexander . Most had faces that you could pick out easy as they used same faces over and over . But we will fgure her out . The number is key to her on back of neck .
Is her hair long or short ? Hard to tell . And Tag on dress says Patty right ?
Name on tag is Patty, her hair is dark brown and long, curly at the ends, string on wrist but no tag. She is really in very good condition and so are her clothes except for the socks, I bought her at an estate sale about 15 years ago
Well I have to say she looks similar to the Kathy doll but she is not her . MA reference books don't even show me her . I will ask my friend . I have to say she is NOT a common to find one . Still working on her :-) Do her legs bend at Knee ? she is also similar to another doll MA did but she had bending knee's but her name was not Patty either .
Her legs don't bend at knees, only move from hips, I think number on back of neck might be 1005, so hard to read
I found her ! I don't have a photo but she is in an blue book of Values I had . She was made in 1965 . She is under Vinyl portrait dolls by MA . Patty 18 " Tall . If she was like new in box value 200.00 but yours in in very good condition but not mint so you need to cut that in half . BUT because yours does not come up for sale often IF you wanted to sell her hard to say what a MA collector would pay . But she is all Original and wonderful ! Enjoy her and she has been validated . Mystery solved whew :-)
Thank you so much! I really appreciate all the time you spent finding her. I will probably put her up for sale on eBay. I hate see her go but we are in desperate need of downsizing. Again, thanks so much for your help!
Barbara
When you list her be sure and show show tag on dress and give good description and also that she is a hard to find doll . Good luck . Let me know when you list her so I can watch auction . I will be eager to see what she brings . I hope a very good price ! I think she will do well even with ebay slow . Since she rarely comes up for sale those dolls are still doing much better than common ones found . If no one else can find her as she is hard to locate anything about her . My Reference book I used was 15th blue book by Jan Foulke pg 221 under Madame Alexander Vinyl dolls :-)
Yes, I will let you know when I list her, probably will be this Sunday. I might just put your book info in the description if that is okay with you.
Thanks!
Yes that is ok and good idea . Also be sure your title is spelled correct and list under Madame Alexander . If you miss anything in spelling she could be missed . I sell often on ebay and buy . I would put 1960's Patty Madame Alexander A/O HTF as title . But that is just me A/O (all original ) HTF(Hard to find) . I will be watching and hoping she sells high . Oh and on photo show her long hair use a different background since her hair is so dark . Fingers X'd :-)
Fantastic research, Manikin. You are always so helpful. The Internet is great but it still can't replace the definitive reference books. :-)
Barbara, sorry you have to sell your Patty but she is so beautiful, and obviously hard to find, so I'm sure you will do well. Manikin gave you great advice for your listing and I agree, use a much lighter background. Good luck!
Thank you again so much for your help! I hope it goes well too!
Thank you Solver for your kind words . I am happy to try and help when I can . Now and then something turns up that is just not quick to identify but we search tell we find the answer if it means dusting off the old books in attic :-) Many people have helped me including you and I appreciate that . Funny how we can look at something we have had for 20 yrs and not figure out what it is but a new set of eyes knows right away . Like my lamp and a few other things I never could find info on :-)
