I picked up these dolls at an estate sale this weekend because they were so cute and so unique. I'm baffled though. I thought they looked like they were Dutch, but there's a tag on the girl's leg that says Hungary. And can anyone tell me what kind of uniforms they are wearing? Are they military? The hats and sleeves have a "V" on them. They are in very good shape, much of the work was hand sewn, and the plastic faces are handpainted. They stand about 8 1/2" tall. Any input would be greatly appreciated !!! Thank you!

Oh and they have price set way to high for what they would sell for so don't base their price as actual . They would never sell for that much

Wow, thank you so much !! How did you do that? And so fast???!!!! So how would you find out what a reasonable estimate might be? Thank you.

One way is to check ebay completed sales . From my experience since Doll prices are down a doll collector would come in below $100 . A Military collector of WWII would maybe like but they would pay less . I will try and watch for a completed sale I could not find one . If I saw these up for auction right now with prices hard to predict with economy they would go maybe in $40-50 dollar range but that is a quess from many yrs of watching doll prices and I could be wrong . A doll is always worth what a collector would pay . These style dolls generally are not real collectible when dressed in regular clothes but that they have military clothes makes them more attractive
They are wonderful pieces of history !

I have a doll that's very similar but is 7 3/4" and is more like a baby doll with the tag simply marked "Hungary". The painting on the face is very similar to these WWII dolls and the face is sewn onto the head the same exact way. Other than the clothes, they are amazingly similar. Can anyone tell me about when they were originally made (Year) and where I can find more information? I inherited them from a great aunt that collected many things. Thank you so much for any information offered. Patricia
