    AmphoraPot…
    (48 items)

The works of Hungarian manufactory Zsolnay, along with those of Amphora and Clement Massier, are in the pantheon of Art Nouveau ceramics. Zsolnay presented Luna at the Paris Exposition Universelle in 1900, the world's fair that brought the Art Nouveau style into wide acclaim.

Luna's hair is bathed with Zsolnay's renowned iridescent glaze called eosin. It is quite electric. What you see in the photos is not because of the camera flash. Also, her face, neck, and the horns that represent the moon reflect the iridescence. I love it most when the filtered light of dusk interacts with her.

Collectors only know of seven other Lunas and they are in wildly different glazes.

We had the privilege of owning this Zsolnay bust for about a dozen years. The group image was taken in our dining room. The best light to photograph Zsolnay is in daylight, without flash; out side with overcast cloudy skies is best.
