Pictures I took in 2011 while out picking. These are all in my area, I've made efforts to save that first building that was a Sunoco station and will continue to do so. the last photo is the Sunoco I worked at in high school back around 1972-73. At that time it was a typical station with 2 workbays and office. I pumped gas in the evenings after school, in those days it was pretty quite and dark on this road and some nights I sat in the office with a shot gun next to me, can you believe that! It's sad too see these small businesses all closed.

It's good to know there are other 'building huggers' around as far too many of these small , formerly utilitarian, historic sites are often the first to be razed. I recall stopping at small gas stations like this on trips with my family in the 50s, pre-freeways. They are wonderful, almost miniature wonders of highly distinctive design representing the architectural style of their eras. Hat's off to a local preservationist!

Those first two pictures bring back memories of twenty cents a gallon, full service and FREE AIR!

Thanks kprattsmith and fhrjr2, glad this brings back memories, I hope I can save that sunoco office in the 1st picture. Check out the restored one in Dublin Ohio at ohiobarns.com
