Found at a Salvo's store a month ago for four dollars I couldn't resist because of the condition and the colour. This one has three colours: an external amber, white and orange. It has no signature.

These geodes remind me of Thunder Eggs, though I believe the two are quite distinct.

On researching the concept of 'geode' I have learnt that :"Bowls with rounded or curved rims are NOT Geodes. If the rim is Not Flat - the bowl is NOT a Geode." (reviews.ebay.com)

    and from www.20thcenturyglass.com:

"Murano glass Geode bowls earn the name "geodes" due to their resemblance to geode rocks - rocks or stones that have been sliced neatly in two. The geode bowls therefore have a perfectly flat, wide rim. Murano glass geodes consist of two or more layers of cased glass. They were made my several Italian glass manufacturers from the Venetian island of Murano, and as such it is virtually impossible to identify the maker of an unmarked bowl. Popular geode shapes include circular, square, triangular, figure eight, and kidney shaped among others."

    I know, I know .... it needs a clean!
It is in daily use in my orange-centric lounge.
I took the photos without using the product. Sorry!

RENEDIJKSTRA has suggested a Portuguese firm of IVIMA and I think he may be right.

In a way I love bowls more than vases. This one is very beautiful. It's sad to hear about the decline of the murano glass factories.

René I’m a bit confused, to be truthful. Nicomachean Ethics 1096a11–15. Is it Ivima or Murano. I’m happy with either. I had a look at de Graaf’s item.
