Inherited this piece from a wealthy eldery lady back in 1956 it had been in her possession for some time. She left it to me because I admired it so much and I have had it ever since. She told me it was a gravy boat. I don't know anything more about it, but would love to hear from anyone that could tell me anything about "Salvini" and just how old it really is, as I am getting old myself (70's) and would wish that whoever I leave it to knows its worth and not discard it as a piece of junk pottery.
Hi Dean,
Thank you so much for giving this piece an identity & origin. I have only just joined "Collectors Weekly" and was most suprised to get a reply. Over a lifetime I have built up a number of mystery pieces, I will now use this site to solve some of my problems with identifying some of my collection. Thanks again.

The second link is from when I asked Walter about my decanter. Since then, I have been collecting Salvini pieces - I'm hooked! My interest in antiquities, MCM pieces, and art of all kinds, eventually led me to start my own antique and art business last year. I just joined Collectors Weekly today and can't wait to utilize my membership. Your gravy boat is GORGEOUS - I'm jealous. :)
