Long before Napster was a legit part of Best Buy, it was the pariah of the music industry. The first few beta versions totally crashed my computer, but it got better and then changed the world. At the time there was no iTunes, let alone iPods and all the rest. If you were in the business of selling pieces of plastic for $20, then it changed things for the worse. If you were a young artist who was never going to get a record deal anyway, which described most musicians, then it was the beginning of the democratization of music. This shirt came from the site.
Napster was incredible. I downloaded 2600 clips from songs to MLK's "I Have a Dream" speech. (Of course I don't miss the 2 hour downloads !) RIP
