I saw this in a shop today and had to leave with it. Does anyone have a guess on the origin, company or at least region of the country where it may have originated? Thanks.

Good luck finding the maker. I have some that I have been tryingt to identify with no luck. It is a beauty, love salt glazed..

Your crock was potted in New Brighton PA in the later 1800's. The debate is still on regarding which potter, amongst several large potteries on Block House Run, created this gem. If you look carefully at the cobalt decoration you can pick out the stylized N B for New Brighton.

Thank you so much SherwoodBrothers! Great information. I wondered what the design was.

Update 2020. Sherds (yes it is Sherd not Shard when related to old pottery pieces) found at the railroad loading dock at the old pottery location, indicate that these NB pieces were potted by Enterprise Pottery in New Brighton. Online history of the pottery is available.
