I inherited this lamp from my parents. I remember as a kid growing up in the 50s we were always told to be careful around the antique lamp! My Mother got it from her mother, but other than that I have no idea it's origin and there are no markings. I believe the globe is original. I used to think it was ugly , but I guess the older I get the more I appreciate it! Can anyone help me identify the lamp?
    Thanks.

I think at one time it was an oil lamp and someone converted to electric so it could be used for everyday. But no matter, you have a beautiful lamp! :-)

Your lamp is about 1890. The makers name would have been on the original burner. Even then it could have just been the burner maker, as they mixed and matched from different manufacturers. Its the original handpainted shade, which are extremely hard to find. Some times the makers trademark is on the metal base, stamped inside or on the bottom. The market has dropped during this period, but will come back we all hope. Good luck with it.

Thank you so much for the information, Shadedoc! I'll check it again for markings.

Thanks, scottscuff. The knob does turn on the lamp. I've looked over every inch of the lamp for markings, but no luck!
