Recently bought this at an estate sale. We plan to use it during the Holidays for decoration and take a picture of our Basset Hound in it.

My father inlaw gave me a car just like this on except someone had painted green and silver. There was no prep by the looks of it. I'd like to restore it back to orginal like this picture. Will I be doing harm to this since it is an antique?
The car was the color of this car shown since they did not paint the underside.
Do you have any sujestion as how I should proceed? I have pictures that I would like to share with you but there is no place to attach them that I can see.
Can you buy replacement parts such as wheels, hood oriment?

I have a pedal car that looks a lot like this one, just a little more rust. I've seen others but they have a woody style on the back. Does not having it affect the value much?

Joe - the ones with the woody pattern (painted wood panels) were produced in the late 40s and early 50s. On the Pontiac Wagon, the one I have was produced in 40 and 41 in the Murray, OH plant but was sold under the Steelcraft co name. The Murray Manufacturing Co shut down production to build war products. After WWII, Murray and Steelcraft either merged or Murray bought out Steelcraft. In 1948 and 49 Murray restarted production of the Pontiac Wagon for those years only and the panels were then painted. Some other variations of the wagon that have painted panels were produced in the late 40s and early 50s. See if there is a Murray Mfg Company sticker in the back of the seat. Hope that helps.
