I haven't the foggiest idea who made it or how old it is. I asked a Red Wing collector site and they told me it wasn't Red Wing, but that's ok. It is 11 inches tall and about 10 3/4 inches at the top opening. It has handles that are in wonderful shape, in fact the whole crock is in great condition. Even my ferret Tinky loves the beautiful brown glazing on the inside.
Love the crock ... and the ferret!!
Thanks! My 2 girls have to check any new item out for approval. This passed, lol
Hi, I think it's called a Beesting crock. Check out collectors weekly stoneware section and AntiqueMystique.com. Hope this helps. My husband collects crocks, so I'm always searching for reference.
Oh yeah, LOVE the ferret!!!
Thank you. Since this post Tinky has passed away. I miss her terribly. She was one of a kind.
Kathryn,
I am sorry to hear about Tinky .... She really does make the photo fun!
it is indeed a bee sting crock. theses crocks are highly sought after by crock collectors and bring very high prices.
Thank you Lauren. She was special.
Thank you vanskyock24. I paid a pretty penny for that one. It's so not perfect and I love the colors.
The design is also called a Lazy 8, Drop 8 or Tornado. The 8s are on their sides, hence Lazy 8, and they drop down and form a tornado shape.
