This vase was purchased at the Salvo's a few years ago. I've only seen one other here in Sydney, a damaged piece, at the Collector's Market two years ago. It is another piece of my "engraved glass".... as such it is not to everyone's taste. This is not acid etched. The entire outer surface has been ground and cut back in a hatched manner that resembles "planishing"as a decorative element on metals. The Italians call this glass technique "battuto":
"This is a type of glass whose surface has a homogeneous set of grindings of variable depth, slightly irregular, in imitation of hammered branches. The first examples of this type of process go back to the early nineteen hundreds in France, at the Daum works, with the "martelé" vases." http://www.muranonet.com/glossary/battuto.html
This vase is signed in script Orrefors JJ 4744 - 22. The JJ is the mark of an artist at Orrefors Jan Johansson. He trained as a silversmith and I'm sure this series is a synthesis of his early training and his work at Orrefors. He likes to exploit the properties of crystal by controlling light through shape and cut. He enjoys 'processing' crystal. He has been one of the 'cut glass' enthusiasts at Orrefors since 1969.
I do not know the name of the series that this vase comes from. I have seen another shape on the net in a different colour with the "battuto" finish from JJ at Orrefors. If anyone can give me some more information I would appreciate it.

Hey V, this is pretty and would look beautiful with roses in her, to highlight her "color".

Yes it's a weighty little thing.
I've just tried to weigh it for you but it's more than the kitchen scales could handle.

Happy Easter to you too, my Friend!
As you can imagine, this has been a very busy couple of weeks,
I can't wait until the lillies arrive,( Sat. AM )
their fragrance is very transporting
and they're even more beautiful knowing that my Mother carried them at her wedding in Prestice, Czechoslovakia, at the end of WW2.
Good Night,
Tony.
And to you too Bellin!
By the way the Lilium Longiflorum flowers here in November; therefore another name Christmas lily & November lily. The variant Lilium formosanum is considered a weed here too it competes with our native flora!
