I found these bookend(?)s at an estate sale and am trying to figure out what they are. They are of a person(or god or goddess?), it looks like something Asian. The person has it's legs crosses with one leg up. One arm is on a box and the other is holding a scroll(something cylindrical).. It has a headdress of some sort and a long robe to its ankles and bare feet. It's face appears to be Asian and its earlobes seem to be elongated. The bases have a lotus flower(I think) etching on it with flower borders on each side. On the bottom of each are some sort of characters, different on each one(is it a stamp or a signature?), possibly Japanese, Chinese or Korean? The stone itself appears to be granite or something similar. I would love to find out what they are and what they represent. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you. They are very beautiful pieces, I like to know as much about them as I can.
**They might be the Quan Yin goddess?
Jim,
Thanks for all that info and for your help. Seeing you picture of the quan yin is what made me think mine was as well. As far as the characters, I would love any more info if you find any. They really don't look much like any characters that I have seen before(granted I don't know much about it.)
