I do not know what type of tool exactly this is. I was told years ago by my great grandmother that it was used to make braided rugs but I'm not sure. Does anyone know what this tool was used for?

This is a tool for making hooked rugs. the needle end would push the yarn through the burlap backing and create the rug loop.

Thank you for the information. Do you know roughly when this tool would have been created? My great grandmother had it and she died in 1965. She was born in 1882 so between those two dates she would have used it. Any ideas as to when this type of pool came out?
