This is ca. 1930 oval enamel or celluloid type pin back frame with portrait photograph of two boys. It is signed S.Riley. It has an arm-rest to stand on table top. It measures 20 cm across (or 8" ) and 14.5 cm (0r 5.6 ") high.
I was having a look at this yet again and made a realization that there is a relationship between these objects and celluloid pins and badges.
My mother has a similar photo of herself and another of her brother taken in the twenties, I suppose. I found these two lads when I bought a Nifty Nivona toy phonograph that I have on CW:

and some Little Tots records

Perhaps these two young boys (twins) were the owners of the set of records and as I mentioned before: these have been well used, I think. The set also came with some photos of twin boys. Having gone through the records I can see these young blokes marching around the room to the music on the machine. The records also have stamp stickers for a variety of suppliers and the price; all were marked a halfpenny, except for one which was 3/4d. On the sleeve of one is a stamp of the shop in George Street where it was bought: "Eutrope’s 466 George Street Sydney Opposite the Queen Victoria Building".
The photo is signed by S. Riley who was a photographer working here in Sydney Australia before World War I until the end of WWII. There is a great deal of material held by the State Library of New South Wales including negatives from his studios. He worked out of studios in several Sydney locations (Balmain, Rozelle, Pitt St., Sydney, Marrickville & Chatswood).
