Running around the state of Indiana looking for unusual things and I found this old radio control airplane that has seen better flying times. It was hanging in this old antique store just gathering dust. I thought it would look great hanging in my garage with all the other things I love. My friend and I did a few modifications and now it has a new home where everyone that walks in can see it suspended from the ceiling. The plane is 4' long and 68" wide with 4 " rubber wheels and made of balsa wood. On the tail of the plane is a decal that reads Manufactured By Granville Bros. Aircraft Inc. Springfield Airport Springfield, Mass.

the orange neon really sets that room on fire! luv that!! Have never seen that version of Western Union sign before. Is it porcelain or tin?

very cool! when i was a little kid, i had a great-uncle who built the 'Toy Castle' in my great grandparent's house in claremont, nh. the two-story foyer was filled w/ planes like this and they would fly around on their wires. all around the bannister of the 2nd floor, there was an amazing train which would run and toot. it was such a great place for a little kid!

Michael, I've got to add a comment......... All you need now is a "Rocketeer" fiqurine to hang beside it. Looks like the same plane Howard Hughs gave away at the end of that "Disney" classic film.

Several of the Rocketeer figurines came out in 1991, so shouldn't be to hard to locate one of the newer ones at a yard sale. LOL. Have a great evening.
