I bought this Transoceanic 9-band radio at the military exchange at Phan Rang Air Base, Vietnam. My favorite programs were the Sherlock Holmes dramas out of London, and I also liked a couple of British soap operas; one out of Singapore and the other one out of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. All on the short wave bands.

I actually bought it in 1967 but this particular model was first produced in 1963 as I understand it. It was later replaced by the Model 7000 I believe. I don't know of any models in between; haven't run into any. The dial is back-lit for night use. The big handle comes in handy because this monster takes 9 size "D" batteries and it's heavy! I think I paid $147 for it, which was a lot of money in '67. Hell, it's a lot of money today....!
