Been wanting this one for more than a doz. yrs & finally have it. This is my 3rd s. wheel & the finest by far. The craftsmanship is beautiful & even has turned bone decorations. Was told it came from the N.E., migrated to St. Maarten, the the island of Saba & finally here to me is St. Maarten. The wooden threads tell me it was probably factory made so if anybody knows where, I would love to know.
Outside info found. Expert says it is a "Castle" style, european made & 140 yrs + old.
This is gorgeous
I love it!
u mean bob don't know.....
You 2 must be going thru the CW morgue. And Wind, if you mean Bob Ralph, I met him about 4 yrs ago O/L researching this wheel & he has been coming down every year since for the Heineken Regatta. If so, how do you know him? We both love this wheel.
I know bOb through you silly ....lol
You do? Senility has it's advantages, - I just don't remember what they are! Remind me.
I think you guys are spinning a yarn here. Sorry, I couldn't resist.
That's OK fhr. We are the "wild cards" you know!

95% of the people I met & know here are transient & CW is close to the same, so I still don't remember how you would have gotten this from me. By the way, Bob got a glitch in his email address, so if you need to get in touch with him, I have the new one. I "bought him a street bike" but he was sick when he arrived in March & never rode it so I keep it moving now.
sorry to hear he was sick... hope all is well by now... yes I'm transient and glad to head you can lift the kick stand and walk the bike around so you both wont seized up ....lol has he been popping that 50 lately ....?
Mon, me not push no blud-clot bike! Neither of us or "popping" or pushing 50 either. Or 60. We both passed them & now pulling them. The streets of SXM aren't nearly as safe when we get together. The natives are glad that it only happens once a year. The bike is a 180cc, cost 1/10 what my pickup drinks & gets me there 5+ times faster. Good investment advice is to take out an insurance policy on me.
no mon ...was talking about roberts 50 cal.................popping.. .lol but that's not a bad idea to take out some ins.on you u, must be pushing 68 by now...lol
Oh! You hit right on. Act 34 & feel 136 some mornings.
Love that wheel CinB! Looked back & see I didn't tell the story behind it. I have been in love with that wheel for about 24 yrs.. It belonged to an old couple who had a lot of antiques in their home & I helped them out a lot. They wouldn't even talk about selling the wheel. They moved to Saba (another Dutch island). I even flew over ther & helped them on projects for short pay because they were like family. Took detailed pics & measurements with intent to reproduce one for myself but didn't get around to it (Like many projects). The old man died maybe 10 yrs ago & his wife moved to the States. The son didn't care that much for these antiques & didn't have enough room for them when he moved everything back to St. Maarten. Visiting one day, he said that he knew how much I loved that wheel & thought I should be custodian & gave it to me! Happy day! It's a dust collector, but I love it just as much today! One of my true prized possessions.
I appreciate your interest in such fine antiques & nice talking with you. Keep that fine antique eye. Hope you have a happy & prosperous new year.
Now, I WANT THAT CHEST!!!!! LOL! He doesn't have room for it or the interest!
We used to have a spinning wheel in the attic wonder if its still there. Lol Very cool Bb.
I've shown you mine Caper, so show us yours.
It's me snooping, you are so interesting! I'm really enjoying reading about all of your great stuff. And look forward to your future thoughts, so take good care of yourself! REALLY...I mean that!
Just gave this wheel to the Dutch museum last week.
Sorry to say that I didn't see the wheel in the museum last time I was there helping. It may be a victim of hurricane Irma. I gave a number of things to them when I went to McDonald's Land to have my heart attack. The roof went. I helped save a few things, but only saw 1 thing I had given them. Sad.
U get some more sheep?
Alfred, you want sheep, we have them ! More goats and they are cheaper !
ok 2 goats 6 sheep that wont run when they hear a zipper ,,... whats your price ..
Alfred, that zipper clause may cause problems. I'll have to check out each individually tomorrow when they come in. I don't go in that pasture because I'm not sure they have set off all the Amer. butterfly mines. I have noticed that several get real excited when they hear a long zipper on a jacket, etc..
hey bb2 well I can understand about the butterfly's the farmers up here have bouncing Bettie's all over the place and they raise hell with the cows when they waltz in to the fields... but if their shy to the sound of the zipper sorry to say ,its a deal breaking ...ok time to go a milking ....enjoy the rest of the night.
