Ice boxes didn't have a high survival rate in the islands & I wanted a functional one. Found plans for this via Woodworker mag. & where to buy repro. hardware. I insulated it & made everything functional just like the originals, even down to the drain sys. and drip-pan. Used beautiful tropical woods. Everybody wants it.
Now when we have a hurricane, I buy block ice in advance & have cold beer while those without generators don't. Oh, of course I would also be able to have non-essential items as well, - like food.
Of course I would have to relocate some things, - like the scanner!
Gorgeous Ice Box !!!!
Thanks Hedge--. We are in that season when I have to think about moving the scanner etc. out of it.
I've always liked these. Really like your creative use of it. Wish I had this. Love it!
Aimathena, - are you a stalker? LOL Even island service people who come in love it. People are lined up to buy it but none have tried picking up even a corner of it. The red-woods were well cured, the fits & glues were good & so it is unchanged & solid. I don't know anybody who doesn't love compliments on their work & thank you. You have good taste in furniture but need to work on who you associate with.LOL again.
LoL I like who I choose to associate with =^)
You have a lot to learn "grasshopper". Some mornings, I don't even like to associate with myself. That text symbol is new to me. I like it as it's more inventive.
Oh!! When I asked if you were a stalker, - I forgot to add my address!
Teehehe
I notice you didn't ask for it! Of course I didn't give mine either.
Oh you must have missed when I asked
I miss a lot. My mind the most. Just took a toke. 1st time in 1-2 mos.. May have to do this more often.
LoL don't forget to exhale
oh wow, well done, I'd rather have this then a generator any day.
Nice looking coffee grinder
Very funny. I would give it to you if I hadn't already. How does that repair look now with a little age on it?
He did a great job on it. Looked good when it arrived.
Nope, none of that in the grinder :p
Want me to ask him to send you some? You'll be his friend for life! 1st time I tried it, Jacky had to take over driving the truck!
No way Jose, I'm high enough off life ;)
Great blunderbuss, even though not an original its a beautifully made icebox. I'd love one.
Vintagefran, you would have to wait in line to get this one. Everybody who sees it, wants it. I've already "promised" 14 friends that I will leave it to them.
LoL BB2
Beautiful great job on this.
Thanks Caper. Little late to the party, aren't we ? LOL !!
There is a party late or not im there.
Caper, I'm afraid you will be spending a lot of time in "Air Standby" !! Just realized that I didn't even show the drain system & drip-pan.
You have great stuff!!!
Thanks Karen.
Brasso Zippo and Rum? everything any collector needs.
Well, PP, I can think of a few other essentials.
Looks like a job well done. I am also thinking about hurricane season. I have an LP gas powered generator, 2 fridges for the beer. Cold beer is a survival kit.
Thanks Fhr & you seem to have experience with hurricanes. Nasty things & laws should be passed against them !
Beer is also a major food group !
Looks like you have the vodka within arms reach!! You did a great job awesome piece.
I appreciate that Roddy. Hope to be reunited soon.
Hi, You should be very pleased with the work you did on this piece. I like the way it functions as an ice box (for the beer) during those hurricane days. Lol. Glad you invited me to check it out. Lori
Glad you like it. Don't believe they had styrofoamin the old days, but mine has it under the zinc. Believe they used sawdust.
