This is what I believe to be a U.S. Civil War Belt Buckle. I am not 100% sure, but was told that it was. It seems to be correct, but if you know more about this I would appreciate your input.

BELLINS68,
Thank you 'B' for the 'L'(-:
Hi Rob, could you tell us how you identified this as a reproduction? I'm not doubting you, just curious.
ROBinHawaii,
Can you say how you know this. I don't doubt you, but please explain why it is not the real thing.
AR8Jason,
I looked at the other buckle, but mine does not look the same on the back and is not stamped REPLICA. What would the differences be between the real one and the replica?
AR8Jason,
If you look at the letters, mine are more defined & the rim is not as thick and rounded, Less lead poured into the back, you can see the skin of the brass from the rear (edges). My buckle looks not to be as thick as the other.
I was never sure about this when I got it, but was hoping it was. I paid $50. for it about 15 years ago at a gun show. The seller advised that it was the real thing to his knowledge. There is one born every day as they say, I guess it's my turn.
ttomtucker,
