The 1892 Western Electric cherry wood vanity on the left photo was acquired in my home town. The vanity was used in hotel lobbies, early telephones booths, and even in expensive private homes. The third photo shows a Western Electric 6ft tandem. the lower half contained three wet cell battery compartments one stack on top of the other.

Is that a George Archer Rochester N.Y. East Lake Victorian era piano stool?
    3. ttomtucker ttomtucker, 14 years ago
James, The stool manufacture is C.W. Chadwick South Action, Mass. It came with the telephone vanity.

I asked if it was George Archer as I have a few of his. I live near Rochester N.Y. so they're fairly common around here. He did cushion seats with an all wooden base too. Very nice set.... they do look great together.

I can't get over how many different phones there were!
    6. ttomtucker ttomtucker, 14 years ago
James, after AG Bell's patents ran out in 1894, there were over two hundred and fifty plus manufactures of telephones. The big five manufactures that survived from 1894 were, Western Electric Co who was the manufacturing arm of the Bell System. Automatic Electric Co was the manufacturing arm of GTE. For the independent companies there was Kellogg Switchboard & Supply, Stromberg-Calson, Chicago Telephone & Supply.

It's just amazing I never would of thought that this many different styles of phones were made just in this country back then.

I have a table made by the C.W. Chadwick & Company. Do you or anyone else have any information on the company? I am trying to find out the value of this table and cannot find out any information. Thank you
