This is a stunner, and it is the most photogenic piece of glass that I own. This was made by Loetz for Robert Medeu & Co., Berlin, between 1902-1904. The shape is Com. 1335/7. It is described in the musterschnitte as "Violett m. Silberstreifen u. Silberpunkten", also known in Loetz circles as "Streifen und Flecken". At first I was certain it was Kralik (as a lot of you already saw in my original post), and thanks to Tony I am convinced it is Loetz. I thought Kralik because of the dark amethyst ground, but Loetz did use this color in some pieces, and the comparison between the actual piece and the drawing in the book on p. 368 clinches it. That also explains the perfect circular spots, rather than the oval silver ones with irregular edges seen on my green one, which I am convinced is Kralik. OK, doing my "happy dance" now.

Hi David. Is it the shape the same as mine? Check out my example listed here...it matched the production number for a retailer Medeu - 1335/7, as well as the description.
So, now I'm confused. Is it Kralik or Loetz? Yours is a spot on (sorry, couldn't resist) match with Mr. T's example.
OK, I'm convinced now. I just looked at it, including the view from the top, and it's exactly the same. Even the description says "Violett m. Silberstreifen u. Silberpunkten". The one time I say something is Kralik and not Loetz, it comes back to bite me. Let me edit this and put the correct data in. I am not unhappy :)
So what's the verdict? Loetz? I got here a little late, so did the post actually start as "Kralik 'Streifen und Flecken' bowl" and you already changed it to Loetz? I can't say anything one way or the other; you guys are the experts. Me? I'm still looking for some streifen to go with my flecken, punkt. (punkt is German for 'period' or 'dot', just for those who don't know. Am I explaining my own joke?) :)

Dasullywon, yes...it's Loetz. My first instinct was Loetz, then it was switched to Kralik, but now that I see the shape in the book there is no question. Marty, I had it backwards. Pieces were commissioned by importers or companies that wanted certain shapes and decors. So Medeu ordered these from Loetz in specified sizes, shapes and decors.

That makes sense; I was very confused by the Medeu reference. So Medeu was like Tiffany & Co.? Did they have a big store in Berlin, like Tiffany in New York?
Seems like when in doubt with Streifen und Flecken decors the uniformity of the spots is a good rule of thumb. Circular spots = Loetz. Oval or "trailed" spots = Kralik. No longer can one use the base glass as the decision point, given the example above...which you can sell to me anytime! Seriously.
I will likely die with this in my possession.
