This is my collection of Fostoria #1641 cake stands. The 2nd image is of the original salver introduced on 1909 and also called Diamond Point Swirl. The 1st is the ruby glass version that was reissued in 1969 as Centennial II. The third image is of the 1641 original under black light; notice the yellow glow around the edge which is consistent with older glass. The last image in the lead crystal reissue Centennial II under black light; the bright spot in the center of the plate is from the adhesive.
OMN: Fostoria # 1641
AKA: Diamond Point Swirl, Sovereign
YOP: 1909; reissued as Centennial II in 1969

Splendid! I especially love No. 3!
thank you miKKoChristmas11, it is interesting how old glass reacts to black light. :)
I apologize but it's been a while sice I checked the 'loves'

Thank you so much for your help and loves and likes since I have been here, and I hope you and your family have a safe Happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year!...:-)
thank you too inky, and Merry Christmas to the CW family!
Thanks for the love filmnet!
Ahh yes, mine doesn't glow like this. It may not glow at all but be an effect of the yellowing. Also I've only got a UV torch, which glares out a dim glow.
the 'glow' in the image here is a bit exaggerated by the long exposure, as it is difficult to actually capture in a photo. As you turn the glass under black light it's fairly easy to see the faint yellow-green in the thicker areas as in the plate above.
Thanks TC (I'm of the age where TC reminds me of Top Cat),
Aah long exposures the trick, unfortunately i haven't a good enough camera for doing that but it does appear to glow faintly only on the base, the thickest area.
How fascinating! I really love how you explain everything:)

There is a red centennial cake plate on eBay right now! The bidding starts at $210.00. Is that to high? I have wanted one of these cake plates. You don't really see them that much. Was wondering your opinion!
Michael
not too high in my opinion. I sold one with uneven gallery several years ago on eBay for about $205 as I recall. From the pics, that one does look to have a bit of unevenness in an area of the top; tho' that could just be the way the photo was taken. I've seen them sell for $400.
I'm still the lead bidder at $250.00
good luck CGF & watch out for the snipers : )
