For Remembrance/ Veterans Day I thought I would post this picture in honor Of My Uncle & Grandmother.
My Uncle was KIA June 8, 1944
This photo is of My Grandmother in the garden holding a picture of her deceased son.
She would later be awarded the Memorial Cross or more commonly named Silver Cross.
Thank you for sharing this....
Yes, thank you.
Thank you, walksoftly. It is a beautiful image of sacrifice. I see that the photograph has been taken outside, and that she is standing behind a table covered by a tablecloth. On the cloth is a vase with a floral arrangement.
Thanks for the love, toolate & Chrisnp & you're welcome.
Thanks for the love, Mani, mustangtony, & ttom, I appreciate it.
Thanks for the love & the kind words miKKo.
Not being able to bury her son I believe she had to have her own memorial for him.
It is a moving image, kinda pulls at the heart strings.
Pulls on mine. So sad.
Thanks for the love Amber & yes it is sad.
The circumstances of his death were very difficult on the family & it's probably why I have such strong feelings for a man I never knew.
Thanks for the love official.
Mine too! I think it is wonderful that you can feel so much for a man you never new, it just shows how much he must have been loved a continuously remembered. Thank you for sharing walksoftly

So much was sacrificed to get a toe hold on the continent, makes you wonder how it would have turned out if they hadn't fought so hard & gave so much.
Thanks for the love, filmnet.
Russian would have been the main language taught in school.
And we wouldn't be chatting here on CW if you spoke Russian!
In my best Russian: ''Da''
