I have searched several websites and have not even found a description matching this. Have spoken to a couple of local antiques dealers and they haven't been able to help me either.

this belonged to my mom and has been around as long as i can remember. I don't know where or when she got it and has passed away about 10 yrs ago. I am really curious about the age and production of this.
    any help would be appreciated

    thanks

My sister has one of these hens without the tray, it belonged to our grandmother and it is a Fenton piece.

I have two of the hens one in clear glass and one in a purplish blue. It practically glows.

Ginger's hen is by Indiana Glass Company. Appears that the indendation on the tray fits *inside* the base rim of the hen. If this truly goes together, and it appears it does, it is very very unusual with that tray. The covered hens themselves are extremely common. The tray was probably experimental , or a limited trial and not put into full production. Hens were made for many many years in many colors. See:

Very interesting piece. We just started recently collecting hen on nest candy dishes. My mother-in-law had an Indiana Glass amber hen...and now we have 6 more in different colors, all Indiana Glass. You can easily tell if they are Indiana Glass by the circular mold mark behind their neck. Even the cat on nest and the rabbit on nest we've gotten in Indiana have the same mark

My mom had the white hen also. She put candy in it. I have the Blue with the beading. Lovely things should be used and appreciated. I am going to put ,ind two to good use.
