Sometimes you don't have to start a collection...it just comes to you! Discovering that your Grandfather was a photographer is one of those ways. Who knew ?

How about an early INDIAN motorcycle shop! No "Easy Riders" here. Next are two pictures of an explosion in Waukegan, IL. These are real photos of the event that, in 2005 was recognized as the event in which the first Waukegan Fireman was killed in the line of duty.

A clean view of the early lighthouse before they build all those other buildings around it. Finally what is a town without a parade? Complete with Chinese "coolies" (notice the long "queques).

I have boxes and boxes to go through...I wonder what other treasures are in there? !

UPDATE : I found an enlargement of the first photo. The sign over the door says "Indian Motocycles". Under neath it says, "Single or Twin Cylinders" The second person from the left is my Grandfather. This enlargement has written on the back," Remember the Good Old Days? I think this was about 1914, wasn't it?" It was given as a gift on Christmas,1919. I'm thinking that this should be Waukegan, IL since my father was born there in 1919.

Many of the Indian Moto-Cycle dealership signs would say "the silent Indian" back then also

This is fascinating, I love the see the ladies and what they are wearing that is also a dating tool. I wonder why so many Chinese men, did they work for a railway or other business in that part of Illinois? Thank you for sharing your new treasures.
