I think the design goes back to the pre-war years.
Not sure, just a hunch.
My guess is Wilhelm Wagenfeld, but ......
I bought mine in a market here in Sydney for a long time now:

It is slightly different. You have a matt finish whereas mine is glass all over. Originally there were three clear glass disks that were used to protect the surface from the wax. They sat on top of each sconce. I'm sure they were made by WMF too! I had three but foolishly left them at my ex's place when I left twenty years ago. Never went back to get them.
It remains as one of my favourite objects."
Amber had suggested something for my little chorister to do so I have put him to wok as well with another of the Anzengruber "Volkstyp" musicians!
