This was grandma's rocker, we had a whole set on the farm in Nebr. 2nd photo is me and 1/2 of my brother in armchair of set! We had couch, love seat and 4-5 chairs, but just one armchair, the one in photo. My dad threw them all over the creek bank! That is where garbage went then, Not in the creek but close by the creek. My mom kept the rocker and I have it now. I think it is maybe walnut wood. Thanks for looking!
Thank you Wish I had the whole set now!! haha
I will also say that this rocker is very strong, very well built! When young we would rock so hard it would almost leave the ground. We were rough on this, and my son rocked pretty hard but I just smiled as I knew it could handle one more kid!
I just looked at my photo when I was small! I was cute kid! haha but what did my mom do to my hair!
I rocked over my finger one time! You do not do that twice! My ex-wife got very angry at me for breaking cats tail! It was crooked after she put tail on platform, was not my fault, I was just rocking!
The true story is I rocked over its tail, it screamed, I jumped backwards in rocker and rocked over tail again! This all happened in less than one second! Really! I was in big trouble!
It is a strong chair! thanks BELLIN for looking, I posted as espon has a chair similar!
ohhhhhhhhhhhh -- your sooooooooooooo cute as a little kid!!!!! love the chair -- your right they are similar -- ours has the material on the arms -- which i would prefer that it didn't -- more places to wear & get dirty. I can just see you with that cat -- only you don -- i am still laughing my patooties off on the hydrolife with the dishes flying off the wall -- now i have two scenarios that will me a chuckle every time i think of it
yours may very well be walnut -- both of ours are mahogany -- got a question don -- where in nebraska -- i was born at offutt air force base and raised my family in lincoln nebraska -- graduated from the univ of nebraska and kenesaw high school -- which is between hastings and kearney -- you take care dear one -- thanks for sharing -- the story is adorable!!!!!
Nice chair. I like the banjolele or banjo/ukulele too, do you still have it?
It caught my attention because I recently picked one up at an estate sale. It needs a few minor things to get it into playing condition which I hope to do soon.
I think it is in my back closet somewhere in a box! Have not seen in years!
Great chair, I had no idea what Eastlake design was till yesterday, to bad the others got tossed, but good thing one piece survived.
Love it & the story.
Thanks!
