I recently picked this up, because I love bronzes. At first I thought it was an ashtray, but I'm thinking it might be a "vide poche", which is a term for a little tray that you keep on your bureau and put your change, cufflinks, etc. in The translation is literally "empty pocket" as thats what you put in it, items from your pockets. I can't find a signature on the piece. Anyone have any further info?
It is about 4" x 4" with the cat at the top around 2" high.

Based on the "notch" on the right side, I believe it is an ashtray.

Great art deco ashtray, love the panther motif.
