My March 1972 Koni-Omegaflex "M" is a medium format TLR made by Simmon Bros. Inc., a US camera maufacturer founded in 1935 who in 1964 partnered with Konica a Japan manufacturer. Apparently less than 2500 of these were produced between 68-75. A monster of a camera in size and weight (I have to weigh it just to satisfy my curiousity).
One may notice the original Koni grip has been replaced. I have the original in good condition but because the weight of the camera I thought it would be appropriate to mount a better grip. Well...there is no better grip out there than a Linhof Anatomical grip.
The first problem would be the price...they are not cheap. The second problem would be getting that great grip to fit properly. Eventually I found one in very worn condition but complete and cheap. An attempt to restore after great preparation proved to be successful, I think... Anyway what a beauty. The second problem was mounting the grip. Which didn't prove to be bad at all. Just had to fabricate a bracket out of 1/8" aluminium.
This purchase came from a photographer and included many accessories such as original instruction manual, all three optional viewfinders, a close-up spacer, and more. What a beast.
------------ I feel like I should explain the installation of the Linhof grip so collectors will understand no harm or alterations have been bestowed upon this camera or the grip. In other words the bracket I so carefully fabricated only attaches in the same fashion as did the original Koni handle and can be swapped at any time. So fret not my fellow collectors...

Rob, was the camera for use or as a collector and you let it go?
    12. rniederman rniederman, 12 years ago
I owned it as a shooter and traded for a Hassi while in NY long ago. I've had several interesting cameras now considered collectibles as shooters including; a Hassi 500 C (transitional CM with std. and 40mm Distagon lenses), Alpa 11el (with Kern Macro Switar), Bronica GS1 (I still have this outfit), early Pentax, Nikons (EL, FT and huge zooms), and Olympus 1/2 frames (Pen S & Pen FT).
