Chimaro series came after Gunnar Nylund one morning stood and looked at the pattern that has been in the toilet after he peed. This has been told to me, my brother and my sister by my father. He worked closely with Nylund and was in place when Nylund came running to the factory with his quick-drawn models, to see if they could be manufactured in any way.

One of the results you see here, a vase of 245 mm length. Unfortunately I have no catalogs from Strombergshyttan from the late 1950s, so exactly which Chimaro models they developed and in what sizes I do not know. However, there is a sketch preserved where one can see that Nylund designed precisely this Chimaro-vase in three sizes, the largest measures 34 cm. Another vase model is also there in a few sizes, and a bowl on heels of two sizes. Even some barrels are drawn. But if all went into production I do not know? I have seen this vase, the other vase in the drawing and the more round vase in the picture to the right. So three models in different sizes are at least made.

The picture to the right comes from a book made in a study circle of the glass in Hovmantorps parish, and the three vases belongs to my brother. The color in the vases in that picture is quite exaggerated to reality.

      Are they marked, rebessin?

My vase is not signed but labeled with first sorting sticker. I don't know about my brothers? I'll ask him.

Thanks rebessin. In a way I'm reminded of Floris Meydam's tall bottle smoky vases.
