This is part of my collection of Antique Victorian pieces...this is a Foster & Bailey Sterling Amethyst Seal that is in near mint condition. This is hallmarked with the ladies initials and PAT'D STERLING F&B This measures 4.90 inches and is quite solid in make. What do you think?

Beautiful amethyst! Does it come apart to reveal a seal?
    3. antiquarius123 antiquarius123, 12 years ago

"Foster and Bailey was an American silversmith that operated between the years of 1878 and 1898. Prior to that the firm was known as White & Foster, from around 1873 up until 1878. Between 1898 and 1951 the company continued to operate under the name Theodore W. Foster and Bros, however it used the same "F&B Sterling" hallmark on its silver as Foster and Bailey, which can make it difficult to determine when a piece was made. The firm was based in Providence, Rhode Island and made small sterling silver, silver plate and gold items for the home and personal use, such as hair brushes, compacts, hat brushes, hand mirrors, dresser jars, shoe horns and button hooks. The firm also made jewelry, including lockets, brooches, and earrings.

JayHow, thank you for saying that!!! When I take pictures of any Antique Jewelry...I fall in love with each peace! I take anywhere from 5 to 45 pictures or more just to get the right one to post. I love taking pictures and posting...I was doing it to sell on these years. But on CW most are not for sale...and are my personal ones. So I take extra care and love on each one since they are mine. I am proud and grateful for what I own. I had to sell all my jewelry twice in my life for 2 relationships. All you see is what I built myself as where the other pieces I had to pawn to make ends meet. This time around, they are staying with me for the girls to inherit. :)))))
