A great Wes Wilson poster/postcard for a Butterfield Blues Band run at the Fillmore in San Francisco. Fri and Sat nights, Jan 20 and 21, 1967, cost $3, Sun afternoon, Jan 22, cost $2. Charles Lloyd Quartet opened. This image has wonderful lettering, plus a publicity photo of the band (from left to right, Sam Lay on drums, Jerome Arnold on bass, Paul Butterfield on harp and vocals, Mike Bloomfield on guitar, Mark Naftalin on keys, and Elvin Bishop on guitar). Saw these guys as a band and individually a bunch of times, and once Naftalin even picked me up when I was hitchhiking. I was totally starstruck; the guy could play.
Amazing ... I was listening to some Butterfield tracks earlier this evening.
Thanks, Rob. Great minds, etc etc....
And ... I saw Charles Lloyd live a year or so ago ... another legendary performer.
