This is an Opal that I bought as an investment ..never set into a mounting. I got this from a friend of mine who owned it for many years...and bought it for $65 a couple of years ago. I love the fact that you can see through it and the fire is more amazing than the pictures. This is a Semi-Black Opal if not a Black Opal.
stunning Opal:) xoxoxox

musikchoo, strangely enough...I envision the piece and it eventually or almost instantly comes down my path! Just like the Antique Carved Opal

oh wow....not fair.
Amazing stone, I've tried envisioning things in the past, but I think they get lost in transit.
Pardon my ignorance but why are they called semi-Black Opal or Black Opal, when they have such amazing colours in them?

blunderbuss2, thank you for the loving!!!
walksoftly, thank you for asking. The term Semi Black refers to the background of the fire...its like darker the better.....to show off the fire of the Opal. The darker the background the more expensive depending on the Opal and the fire. The White Opals are the least expensive.
Thanks Moonstone, I could have looked it up but it's always better to ask someone passionate of the items they collect.
walksoftly, you are so wonderful and kind....I like to hear your thoughts!!!
