I found this very old looking Pewter Medallion while using my metal detector at a local fairgrounds. It was under about 6 inches of very hard earth! At first I thought it was a silver dollar and then noticed it was a medallion. One side has a church engraved along with Avilla, Indiana and the other side has "serving the people of north east Indiana since 1853" I asked a local historian who told me it was pewter and he believes it was made during the 25th or possibly 50th anniversary of the church. I have tried to contact the church but they have no record of it being made! A nice find though....to me better than a silver dollar!
I am curious if anyone can tell me more about this medallion? Thank you ranglin57
