I have been collecting Blenko water bottles for about 9 years and this is most of the collection. These photos were taken a year ago so there are a few that were added since. I also collect non-Blenko water bottles. At this point I have 14 different styles. I have been blogging about my collection and the water bottles in other collections for a year and a half. The blog addresses are www.blenkowaterbottles.wordpress.com and www.moreblenkowaterbottles.wordpress.com. I have included information regarding identification and color with each post. You can contact me through the blog for assistance in identifying your water bottle or it's color if you need help. Or if you like post your photo here and send me a quick note so I know to look for your post.
Wow, this gives me a new meaning of display with pride!! I am fearful of earthquakes on my side:))). Yours is truly beautiful!!!
Welcome to CW!!!
yummy's:) I love every single flavor you have in your photos:) I have only 2 pieces of blenko. welcome to cw.
Were all these different colored water bottles by Blenko described by color when they were released by Blenko? They must have run out of names......they are beautiful! We see the occasional ones in Canada...mostly blue or green. VERY NICELY DISPLAYED!! RER (BOB)
Oh my goodness! Beautiful!
Loumanal, the majority of these colors have what we refer to as catalog names. However, some were one time colors made by melting 2 or more different colors of cullet (broken glass). Some were experimental colors that Blenko decided to not put into mass production and most of those did not get named.
Eye4Beauty, Blenko has 3 or 4 molds for their regular water bottles but they also make optic water bottles by first placing the glass gather into a mold that creates the optic design before blowing it in the water bottle mold. Back in the late 50' and early 60's Blenko also made water bottles with dots on the front like a gianat hobnail. These had the design in the actual mold. These molds still exist, I have seen them when I visited the Blenko Factory. Examples of these can be seen by visiting my blogsites and searching for the terms "optic', HoJo and Vineyard.
Thank you everyone for your kind comments.
Love colored glass and love Blenko! Thank you for posting your beautiful collection!
Eye4Beauty, I originally decided to stick mainly to water bottles in order to limit myself. You can see how well that worked out. Working with water bottles has helped me to be able to identify colors or at least narrow down the possibilities. The Blenko Project has a fairly complete set of catalogs on line as a reference.
Impressive! You have a lot to be proud of right there.
Cool, I saw that photo on my Facebook feed earlier today
Wow! welcome Boyson. you are in the right place! i was just thinking yesterday about how few pieces of Blenko i see here in Oakland, California. Now i know why!
Just found out that my friend's great great great great Uncle founded Blenko. It is a new maker to me and love the huge collection with so many colours. Gorgeous
I am a huge lover of colored glass. These displays are wonderful. Hope you don't live in earthquake territory. :)
Nice collection :)
Hello,
Periodically, I find myself on your page, admiring your amazing collection!
Though I only have a few bottles, I am forever inspired by the beauty, and am always on the hunt for them locally, if possible.
I recently picked up a clear bottle from a flea market, which has a slight rainbowy sheen in the right light, not to be confused with the rainbow of sick glass. The bottom is uniform, unlike the bottom of another clear bottle I bought from the Blenko company about two years ago.
With this information, do you have any idea of the approximate year these were made?
I hope I've provided enough information. Many thanks!
P.S. I meant to add, the newer bottle has a very thick hump in the bottom, while the bottle I just bought is relatively flat.
no wonder I can't find any,.. you have them all ...nice collection.
