I do not think that the top is attached to the legs unless it is glued .

I bought this same exact sewing machine base at a antique store in Delaware about 2 years ago for like 20 bucks. It's been in my garage since then. I finally got it out and started sanding it. Im going to restore it and put a wooden table top on it. Same thing here, the foot peddle still works the big wheel. Amazing how well things were built back then! I hope it turns out to look as nice as yours dgicollector. Good job!

Anyone know where I can find an owner's manual for a Singer sewing machine made in 1884. I have a complete setup on this stand, wood cabinet, & sewing machine. It was my great grandmother's.
