I started becoming more interested in collecting after college, when I quit a desk job with a major multinational to start a construction company. Our area has been settled since the mid 1500s, and there are a fair percentage of antique homes here. The more of them I worked on, the more I enjoyed the methods they used, and the quality of not just the finishing materials, but the structural parts no one sees. I also started using and appreciating vintage tools. This led me to Art Deco, Art Nouveau, and mid century modern, which led me to Frankart, Venini and deco bronzes. It spread from there. I was stationed at Miramar, in California, from 1997-99, and my neighbor was an animator for Universal studios. He explained how a cartoon is made, and I was hooked. When I moved to my next duty station I had two clothing boxes full of cels. That tour in Miramar also introduced me to Native American turquoise and sterling jewelry, which led me a few other places. Now that the body won't let me pound nails all day anymore, I'm hitting auctions, flea markets, and yard sales to find the best of vintage, and bring it here for you. I also sell items on Ebay under 2500diesel, and have a shop on Etsy, Classylines. (Read more)
