Nope, these crimps are nothing more than a strip of aluminum about 3/8 inch wide and folded partway about a 1/3 of the length and when placed in the crimper jaws fold around the part and squeeze down ...
I have the same crimper which I inherited from my grandfather, about 1980. I also have a bag of the aluminum crimps that are used with it. I don't know what the original purpose of the crimper was for...
