The boot stretcher is certainly a similar looking device. This one is long enough it would fit the length of a pants leg. It closes to about 5" and opens to about 18" when fully extended.
I thought about the animal skin stretcher, but there is no evidence of blood or animal fats on the wood. Even the cloth across the metal cover of the screw jack is clean.
Strap wrench is a possibility. What straps would it have been used for? Harnesses, saddles?
For lifting what? Doesn't seem like it would support much weight. Thank you for your help.
It does not have any metal blades or teeth. I'll get a more detailed picture later today or tonight. Don't have it with me at the moment. I assume you are mostly interested in the head of the device.
