The Georgian Era spans the reigns of four British kings: George I, George II, George III and George IV from 1714 to 1830. The period is often extended out to 1837 to include the short reign of William IV, whose death marked the beginning of the Victorian Era. The last of the Georges, George IV took over as Prince Regent in 1811, when his father George III became unfit to rule, and the "Regency Era" generally covers the period 1811 until 1837. Jewellery from the Georgian Era was all hand made and often uses techniques that are virtually lost today, or are so time-consuming that they're impractical in modern jewellery manufacture.
