My fiancee believes this particular pitcher vase belonged to his mother. She is unfortunately deceased or I would consult her regarding the piece. Before April of this year I didn't even know the difference between antique and vintage lol! Now I have a new love in my life besides my future husband and that is investigating all the newfound treasures to try and figure out the history and possible values of all of the wonderfully unique possessions that have found their way into my heart and mind. I can tell that this piece has a significant emphasis on the diamond pattern as it is imprinted under the paint and glaze on the bottom of the pitcher as well as being hand painted in gold around the large and unusual lip of the pitcher. Also, the handle appears to be illustrating the letter C as there are three C's fitted together to make the handle; and there is the letter C hand painted in gold in the center of the diamond pattern on the bottom of the pitcher in the center of a depiction of what appears to be a vase drawn in the middle of this diamond pattern imprinted under the paint and glaze too. Then the numbers 265 are raised and imprinted amongst the diamond pattern just above the hand painted gold C. As a newcomer to antiquing, I am at a loss trying to find the origination of this exquisite piece of history and art. If anyone can help me unlock this mystery I'd greatly appreciate it! (Read more)
