With its court located a mile above sea level, reducing the amount of oxygen in the air by 17 percent, you'd think that Denver players, who are acclimated to the thin air, would have an advantage over visitors for at least the 41 games played at home during a regular season. In fact, most teams perform better at home, regardless of their home court's elevation, but the Nuggets play a couple of percentage points better at home than most teams, netting them a few extra wins per season.
In 2020, the Nuggets and every other team in the NBA lacked any sort of home-court advantage as all teams were forced to play "in the bubble" at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Despite this level playing field (elevation 82 feet), the Nuggets knocked the heavily favored LA Clippers and Kawhi Leonard out of the NBA Playoffs.
