cogito
(124 items)
Wonderfully large and strikingly designed double maiden form Art Nouveau ceramic vase (circa 1900). Stamped on the bottom "1523", "HB", and what appears to be hand painted "vv". Dimensions: 14.5"(H) x 13.5"(W).
This one is a bit of a mystery. It was purchased from a seller in Belgium, but attributed (by the seller) as Austrian/Bohemian. The markings do not provide much in the way of clues, but the same piece is pictured in Judith Miller's (2004) "Art Nouveau" DK Collectors Guide (pg. 108) and also attributed as Bohemian by her. This added bit of information mildly swayed me, but recently I found the same vase, but with a very different glaze application, attributed as Rambervillers (French). So, I'm back to square one.
STUNING cogito! speechless:)
Wow, this fantastic. Truly blessed
Thanks all! I just wish I knew who made it.
Really beautiful colors!
WOW... This is stunning. I absolutely love it.
Exquisite! Looks like there may be another mark under the "BH" that look like it starts with a "Z"? I would say that it is more Austrian/German, but I'm no expert. I'll see what i can find on the marks
I found this on the search for Rambervillers, but your piece is much more refined that this artist's piece, but perhaps further research into the other artist's names would be fruitful. I will continue my search on the German route!

I agree with Phil , I would celebrate this amazing piece no matter who made it . One of the most beautiful I have seen ! Much love on this !!
Absolutely everything you want to see in Art Nouveau style work. A lover of Art Nouveau's dream. Thank you so much for sharing such an exquisite piece. I think I am going to pin this in my pinterest account if its ok.
Thanks all for the love and attribution tips! Smiata, no problem on the pinterest pin. Cheers.
Early Zsolnay? Pre 1885? The number is a similar format.
Also, the brown silver glaze looks the same as well as the quality of the modeling of form.
WONDERFUL!!!....:-)
I don't do ceramics BUT I'd take this one in a flash !
Gorgeous cogito. Did you find out if it was by zsolnay?
Hi, Vintagefran. No, I never did. I suspect it may still be German or Belgian, though I'm not completely discounting the Zsolnay hypothesis. One of my hopes is that posting it here someone with more knowledge about the piece will be able to provide an answer.
Hi Cogito.
Happy New Year 2ü
