This lovely fishing reel dates back to 1880's.My husband got it on the weekend from a collector. Pretty sure it comes from Ireland.
It appears to be cedar and the main shaft is steel. The rest is brass.
The handles are horn.
A truly beautiful piece of fishing history.
we aren't sure if it is called a starback...any ideas?
He bundled a heap of stuff so didn't get any info. The you tube video appears to be this one
