    (190 items)

Remember playing on these as kids? We are building a vintage playground for my daughter and (me too). We just got the merry-go-round back from being sand blasted and powder coated.
Just finished the 4 way teeter totter today, it is also sand blasted and powder coated, except for the figurines, they are hand painted by both my daugthers and myself.
    9-2-13:
Just finished my daughters playground after 3 years, I found a 12 foot swing and a 10 foot slide to make it complete. I hope you enjoys the pics!

This playground is dedicated to my daughter and is named after her.

yea i loved those days i got the vintage swing that goes with that chevy 59 on my site
    2. chevy59 chevy59, 14 years ago
Glad you like vanskyock24, all the metal A frame swings I looked at weren't tall enough so I decided to put these 6 x 6 treated post into the ground and they work just fine. My older daughter and I like to get air borne. Lol

Ha, I remember all this stuff from my playground....1985-91. I knew it was old back then.
    9. chevy59 chevy59, 14 years ago
Thanks VikingFan82, we use to spin merry-go-round so fast and see who could hang on the longest. That was back in the 1970's for me!
    10. VikingFan82 VikingFan82, 14 years ago
Same here! We also had a merry-go-round that was discus shaped and had these round bubbles that I guess you were either supposed to hang onto or sit on, no bars or handles. We called it the gum drop merry go round. Not safe at all, I remember flying off on many occasions lol
    11. chevy59 chevy59, 14 years ago
A lot of the old playground equipment wasn't safe, but after getting knock in the head a time or two, we learned really quick about safety. It's funny how we ever survived this long! lol

I was reading a news story the other day where a kid fell off of a sliding board and banged his head................they sued the school! I fell off of a sliding board in about 1950 or so and broke my arm ! guess what..................nobody got sued ! we got to keep our play ground open without any fences or gates ! we had fun ! When you lock up the play grounds you force kids to look for something else and that usually means trouble !.....................
    13. chevy59 chevy59, 14 years ago
I hear ya Pop_abides! It's sad that kids today can't have the same fun we did as kids without someone getting sued. And everyone wants to know why the kids today are the way they are!
    14. VikingFan82 VikingFan82, 14 years ago
The other swingset we had on our playground at school had the metal beams, I used to love to twist the swing chains and then let it go and I would spin in a circle until they untwisted completely. One time they untwisted in an odd way and I slammed my head into one of the beams. Got a huge egg on my head, I dont know how I never lost consciousness lol

You would love all the vintage play things that sit outside of my town at an old drive-in! The drive-in is still in use, but the play ground is ancient!!!!

Oh yeah I remember one of these when I was a kid at the local park, back in the day. Seem to recall a girl got on it to ride once and spun that thing so fast that she blew chunks. Good times! I blamed on my brother of course ;)
    38. TammyInCarolina TammyInCarolina, 13 years ago
Classic.....Love it, I to live near a Drive-In, it is used as a Flea Market and has all the old playground equipment still there! Great pic's!
    39. chevy59 chevy59, 13 years ago
Thanks signaholic and TammyInCaronlina, we play on it a couple times a week, our boxer loves to chase it round and round.

This Is Awesome... I dont want to grow up ... I want to come live at your house.. Is this in your back yard??? You kids are very Lucky to have parents like you guys.. This is truly Great... Thanks For sharing..Heidi
    41. chevy59 chevy59, 13 years ago
Thanks again Heidi, growing up as kids, my parents set the swing set up against the house and gave us a toaster to play with in the bath tub, so I never really got to be a kid. I try to be a big kid with my kids, and they think that is sooo un cool. Lol
    42. lovevintage lovevintage, 13 years ago
I just about peed my pants reading what you said.(your toooo funny!!!) My parents have never grown up and they never will... I should write a book... my parents are the type (well they did do this). They put a fart machine out in front of there house and when the people were walking by they would make it go off and the looks from the people walking well lets just say one wife smacked her husband and told him how rude he was.. And he's telling her I SWEAR I DIDN'T DO IT..... My parents are in the house watching and rolling on the floor I come over and asked what's going on..... WHY DO I EVER ASK THEM THAT QUESTION...... And growing up was alot of fun and it still is... And I'm still very close to my parents.. I could never have kids.. I always wanted alot of them, So tell your kids how lucky they are to have you. And remind them its your job to embarrass them.... :)' Heidi
