Described as large amber bead... $7.56 free shipping...
What option do you choose, leave or grasp?
What could be the "stone"
Why?
Let's play!

I will come back on this in 48h ;-)
48h of reflexion, lol!
I said "described as".... ;-D
Examine carefully the pics, what possibilities are there....
The play is mostly what identifications can you make from a pic only!
So, OAS, what is this for you?
Yeah! You play with me! Of course, I bought it!
I show only the "part" to identify, the whole thing is a stick pin :-)
So, to be clear, question is stone? Amber? Or ???
Ha ha, I know better than to play this game, I leave that for the experts! :)
OAS, good to see you back, I wondered where you'd got to! :)
Kyra this is too hard! For $8 I would buy it just because it might be a good thing.
I don't know jewellery but I like the old looking setting although the stone looks glass to this novice.
Of course I noticed, OAS, missed your comments on the threads, not only for your knowledge but for your way with people. Some folk just have the right touch. :)
Racer, thanks for playing!
It is not glass... the mount is very damaged and seems done by a blacksmith, the "thing" falled apart.
Lol OAS!!! Resin blob, love the term!
You will have to wait till this evening to know!
Here it is 8 am now :-)
A new pic for clue...
I would take the punt and grab it...I think!!.. putting my head on the block....definitely amber...gwd!! I said it...:-/
Inky, thanks for playing :-)
Hoping you have a second head... ;-)
So I would check out what else does the seller have? What items have they sold recently in their feedback? Are they naive or cunning? Maybe they are naive Grandma selling things they have no idea about? Or maybe they are cunning seller trying to suck in a Kyra to take her hard earned $7.56?
If I felt good about it, what is there to lose in buying a 3ct Mexican Fire Opal. Does the stick pin come with it? Maybe it is platinum? With Kyra's luck it probably is!
That is, I think a Mexican opal from Magdalena!

scroll all the way down and click on the one on right!
Paul, you're the king! Great id :-)
The mount is very low silver, ugly made and ruined... But I knew what the 12mm stone was!
A big clue for difference with old dragon's breath art glass is the double domed cabochon cut.
I bought the Mississippi pearl stick pin for $17.25 from same seller, and a ravishing 14K griffin holding a freshwater pearl in art nouveau design for $34. (I'll post it too!)
Seller has 39970 feed backs!!! And sell all kind of collectibles...
Always stunning that a lot of sellers even don't feel their stuff!
Paul, the mississippi pearl stick pin is there ;-) (nice mother of pearl and gold tone pin uh?)

Don, you won the coconut tree too! (French saying!)
Mexican fire opal, I didn't knew for Magdalena, thank you!!!
XOXO
Ah, that Mississippi dog tooth pearl stick pin was cool. Toracat was second!
Look forward to seeing your 14K griffin holding a freshwater pearl!
Thank you! Let us celebrate! And go to Vietnam!! XXOOXX
Griffin posted!
Many thanks to the 9 mystery stone lovers ;-)
Lol, OLD persons love naps, and some SILLY are not fairplay! Don't be upset uh, OAS, JUST KIDDING (I scream because maybe you're deaf too...) ;-P
The glow and double cab cut made me risk the $$$$!
Your new name will be Oldandsleepy from now, Madam ;-)
Everything but blind... And mute! (-_-)
What a beautiful stone, kyratango, nice buy. :)
Thank you Katherine! I never had one in hand, but saw so many opal pics I could identify the hue :-)
Observe is learning too!
Amazing eye, kyratango. :)
I would grab it :-)
Thanks Katherine and Manikin :-)
It is now in my "in case of" spare stone box ;-)
A couple of times I have had to go on a poor picture for what I thought could be a great trunk -- the first time was a strike out and I was so angry with myself I could have thrown it out the window on the way home -- but the next three were home runs... an educated guess is a good bet!!!
Oh la la, Trunkman, it's dangerous to throw trunks out the window while driving, LOL!
Lot of bidders are afraid to buy from poor blurry pics, so if clues are good, a bargain is possible...
Thank you for telling us your first time ;-))
Beautiful Mexican Opal. I love the green fire.
Many thanks for your highly appreciate comment, Wpj!
Thank you Aura for the love :-)
